Things I Love – part 6

Eiswein (aka. ice wine).  My favorite wine ever… too bad it only comes in the small bottles and isn’t all that cheap, either.

Kiss!

Coconut…. my new favorite Hershey Kisses. How will they top this one?

(Thanks, Cheryl. Guess that was payback for the Cheesecake ones? LOL)

Mug Series – part 6

Isn’t it cute? I love the detail on the handle, too.

This was a birthday gift from a very sweet friend, and a total surprise. Thanks for thinking of me 🙂

Soccer Practice

A great time to catch up on my reading!  I have this big stack of magazines on my night stand – unread! So I took along a few of them when we went to Melissa’s soccer practice on Sunday. This was the July 2007 issue!

Spring Is In The Air

I had some time to myself on Saturday while Greg and the girls were at soccer practice, so I decided to see what I could find to take pictures of in my backyard. Lots of dead grass there, and this….

I think it’s a redbud tree? (Whoever named that tree must have been color blind)

Leftovers

Found some fall colors in my yard…

Look At The Baby!

Here’s the video of Sara. As soon as she takes her finger out of her mouth, she says “look at the baby”. (She was about 20 months old)

Mug Series – part 5

Next in my collection…. this was a gift from my best friend many years ago and it’s my tea mug. She always sends teas from Germany, too. Sometimes a whole box for Christmas or my birthday, and sometimes she puts a bag or two in with a letter or card.

The tea here is my all-time favorite, it’s Jasmine-Cherry flavored.

This mug always reminds me of the very first sentence that Sara said. She was really little at the time, maybe about 18 months old? I was drinking a cup of tea, and when it was empty, Sara looked at the angel on the inside, and said “lookatthebaby”!

By Candle Light

Maybe this should be part of the “Things I Love” series, because I love to light a candle in the evening, turn out the light, and watch TV by candle light.

Playing With Food

Pepperoni pieces for eyes, a carrot nose, and a slice of pepperoni (with part of it bitten off) as the mouth. All of it stuck in veggie dip.

My silly, silly child.  I’m sure I don’t have to tell you whose work of art this is!

For Those Inquiring Minds…

… who want to know about yesterday.

I had a really nice Birthday, except for the fact that Sara woke up way too early! Not enough “me” time. Melissa didn’t have school yesterday, and Greg took the day off work because he still had some vacation days left from last year that he would lose if he didn’t take them.

Everyone else was up fairly early, too, and I got to open my cards…. and a certain box that had been sitting next to my desk for four looong days, that I wasn’t allowed to open until my birthday.

Presents… you already know what I got from my sister-in-law and her family, because I posted a picture of it at the beginning of the month. Greg gave me a diamond heart ring, that I got to have a couple of days early. Then he said something about stopping to get my last gift, but he didn’t give me any hints. Two very sweet friends each sent me a coffee mug for my collection….. stay tuned for pictures, I’m sure I’ll post them soon! I really love both of the mugs. One is funny, and the other very, very sweet. Another friend sent me the cutest Precious Moments figurine! That’s what was in that box that I wasn’t allowed to open. And my very best friend sent….. I don’t know what she sent yet, because her package hasn’t made it here yet. It’s coming all the way from Germany.  I do know that she sent something for my tealight wreath.

Anyway… we left around 10-ish and headed to Kuby’s Restaurant in Dallas. Yummy German food!! There is a Great Harvest Bread Company store just down the street from the restaurant, and the plan was to stop there first, buy some bread, and pick up a coloring page for each of the kids to color while we’re at lunch. When you bring the pictures back, they give the kids a huge cookie – free!! Unfortunately we found out that they’re closed on Sunday and Monday. Poor kids were so sad. Me, too, because I love their bread!! Guess we’ll just have to go back on a Saturday.  So we went to lunch, and lucky for the kids, their meal came with a cookie for dessert. They each got a different one and neither one was happy with the one they got. Isn’t that typical!? Sara didn’t want a cookie at all, but in the end she switched with Melissa and ate it after all. Kuby’s has a German store next to the restaurant, and we did a little shopping after lunch. Then Greg took us all to Best Buy, where he was going to get that last gift. I told him that they don’t have the camera I want! LOL I knew he was NOT planning to upgrade my poor little Nikonosaurus D70s. Nope, he told me I could pick out a DVD and I went straight to look for LOST Season 2! All they had was Season 1, though, and we were going to check another store later but first we drove to White Rock Lake and went for a walk. The weather was beautiful!! The wind was a bit chilly, but at least it was sunny. The kids had a blast, running and jumping, and throwing sticks and rocks into the water. I took some pictures, but I’m so not used to taking pictures outside anymore because most of them were overexposed. I did get a few OK ones and will post them on flickr as soon as I’m done editing. I only have a few more to go.

We stopped at another Best Buy on the way home and were able to get a copy of LOST. Yay!

That was about it. I think we got home around 4 pm and didn’t do much else besides play on the computer and watch TV. Greg was nice enough to do the dishes for me, after I already started.

And The Winner Is….

30 Isn’t So Bad….

… too bad I’m waaay past that! LOL

I’m going to have cake for breakfast this morning and spend the day with my family. Melissa doesn’t have school today and Greg took the day off work. The plan is to leave around 10 am and head to Kuby’s for lunch (German restaurant), and hopefully the weather is nice today so we can go for a walk somewhere this afternoon.

Sunrise

This was taken a few days ago. The kids came running into the computer room to tell me how pretty it looked outside, so I grabbed the camera and went outside to take some pictures…. and then took it with me when we drove Melissa to school.

From My Honey – part 2

As promised, here are some pictures of the roses. Will post more on flickr, too.

From My Honey

Greg ordered some personalized M&Ms online and each of us got a bag for Valentine’s Day. He also surprised me with a dozen roses when he came home from work!

Funny story about the M&Ms…. a couple of weeks ago he told me that he had my Valentine bought already, ordered online after he saw a commercial on TV. He thought he could torture me (well.. he did a little!)… until the UPS man dropped off the box! Unlucky for Greg, who was working from home that day, it came pretty late in the day, and because the UPS man almost never rings the door bell, we kept checking the front porch. So sometime after 7 pm I looked out the window and saw a box sitting on the porch….. with BIG M&Ms all over it!!! No doubt about what was inside! LOL

He had “Love you” written on half of them, and on the other half it says “My M&MS”, which of course stands for Michaela, Melissa and Sara.

Outtake #584628023

I’m beginning to think that the “good” pictures of her are really the outtakes, since this captures her personality perfectly.

She’ll be starting kindergarten in the fall and I can already hear the phone ringing every single day, and her teacher telling me that she’s acted out in class – again – and to please explain to her (again!) that this is NOT clown school.

Lipizzaner Stallions

We surprised the girls on Sunday with tickets to see the Lipizzaner Stallions. We left early and had lunch downtown Dallas and then walked to the American Airlines Center to see the show. At first we were telling them we were going to the museum… then we told them we were going to see an opera. Melissa wasn’t happy about either one, but Sara said she wanted to see an opera. I doubt she knows what that is!

Then at lunch I told Melissa that we were going to see some airplanes at the American Airlines Center. They’re brand new airplanes called “Lippies”. I thought for sure that she would figure it out, considering she knows every single horse breed. But nope. Didn’t have a clue! I looked around when we walked through the doors and didn’t see any signs, but the woman who told us which way to go to get to our section, told us about a souvenir stand. I spotted that, but Melissa completely missed it! We were one of the first to get o our seats, but as it filled up, there were quite a few people with programs (aka souvenir books) and you could clearly see the pictures of the horses. I kept waiting for Melissa to say something, and I even told her to pay attention to her surroundings, but she never noticed the books! Another big clue was the gap in the curtains when we first walked in, you could see horses behind the curtain, but I guess Melissa never saw that, either. We had great seats, btw. They were in the 8th row! The show was pretty good, too, and everyone enjoyed it. At the very beginning, the commentator came through the curtains, followed by one of the horses and the rider was holding an American flag. The horse stood perfectly still during America the Beautiful and the National Anthem, and Sara whispered to me “Is that a real horse?”

I was lucky to get a few good pictures…. overexposed the whites on a LOT of them,  and the ISO was on 1600, so lots of grain.

042-lippizzaner01.jpg

042-lippizzaner02.jpg

In this picture, the horse performs a Capriole. The Stallion leaps into the air, drawing his forelegs under his chest at the height of elevation, and kicks out violently with his hind legs.

For a chance to win, just reply to this post…. no need to leave any kind of personal info, just be sure to check back to see if you’ve won.  You can enter until Noon on February 18th, then all the names will be thrown into a hat and one of the kids will draw the winner. The winner will be announced on February 19th!!

EVERYONE is qualified to enter! Yes, even my close friends and relatives! So, tell all your friends to come and enter… no wait, don’t tell them because that will decrease your chance of winning 😉 unless of course you make a deal with them to share the cards 50/50 if they win.

Where Gray Hair Comes From…

According to Greg, from taking too many pictures.

I asked him yesterday if he could color my hair on Monday (he took the day off work because he had some vacation days left from last year). He asked why and I showed him all the gray hair he’s given me over the years (duh!! LOL). Of course he denied it and claimed that the gray hair comes from taking too many pictures… because I “put all the color in the pictures”. Riiiight!!!! Ha ha ha!

(I’m sure he’ll be very happy when he reads this next time he stalks my blog)
