The Chosen

… room to get painted, that is! This is our dining room (excuse the flashy snapshots, please). See why that color has to go?! It actually looks better in the photos than it does in real life. Sometimes the color being off can be a good thing! And no worries, that ugly lamp will find a new home in the trash as soon as we can find one to replace it with…. and Greg will find the time to change them out.

This is the view from the kitchen (and yes, I know that the table & chairs don’t match the cabinets)

View from the computer room room

View from the living room

And here is the view from Melissa’s room, towards the kitchen.

I’m kinda leaning towards some kind of green, and maybe put a darker shade on the bottom and a lighter shade on the top half of the wall, and the trim white…… or maybe some kind of brown tones? I dunno…

Oh ya accent wall is not going to work. I like your idea of dark on bottom and lighter on top. I did that in the boys room, except used paint as a separation. It looks great and gives you the depth of dark color without creating too much dungeon. Can’t wait to see what you do!

  2. Thanks, Amy. I can’t wait to see what I’ll do either! LOL
I got a flier in the mail about a brand new Lowes opening just a few miles from here, so I’m headed there tomorrow to see what kind of colors they have. The kids are going to be SO happy! (Not!)

Oh and I meant to say, no worries about table and chairs matching… you should see our dining room, it has a ladder, a box of painting stuff, a car for the boys to ride in and a U-turn sign… Ya, still waiting to even purchase a dining room table and chairs 🙂

  7. LOL Amy. I need a trip to IKEA to get a matching table & chairs 😉
Hey, how about you put that U-turn sign on top of the box (there’s a U-turn sign in your dining room??? LOL) and use the ladder and car as chairs? Voila: dining room set!

  9. You have to post a follow up to this. I am having the same issue right now. My room is the great room which is the kitchen/playroom/family room. I too am thinking of green. Maybe green and brown.

  10. I’ll definitely post an “after” picture… once I’ve decided on the color. Still not sure 😛
Maybe I will go with a brown?? That might go with my dishes (yellow and dark blue) better than green. But who knows, maybe I’ll end up with green after all.
