  3. Great expression of her face!

Keep shooting! Sports photography is tough no matter how old the participants. One of the tips I read about yesterday was to use Continous Focus mode and move the Auto Focus point to the top of the frame since that’s where the faces are more likely to be.

  4. I’m still amazed with her intensity in soccer. Vance never quite had it. We are trying basketball in a week or so.

BTW, he still talks about Sara. He always picks it as his first choice for anything he names;)

  5. Scott, you’re not saying that this picture is blurry, are you??
Actually I’m aware of that. There were a couple of things going on… 1) it was starting to get a little too dark (in the shade) to get fast enough shutter speed, and 2) the 80-400mm lens is a bit slow to focus, which didn’t help here at all.
Thanks for the tips, though. I do use continuous focus, but chose to keep the focus point in the center for the most part, since a bunch of 5-year-olds are pretty short 😉

  6. Wow…on using the 80-400VR. That’s one heavy lens and I am aware of how slow it is to focus. I was thrilled when I got some bird in flight photos with it last Spring.

A great moment even if there is some motion blur. 🙂

  7. That’s awesome! I can’t wait til my lil’ one is old enough to do sports. 🙂

Great shot! I hope we can do soccer in the spring and Greg will coach the 9-10 year olds right? LOL 😉
