I Need A Drink

As if car problems weren’t enough, add some major sickies into the mix.

Sara pretty much has been sick since the end of the first week of school. Just one cold after another, but now she’s been coughing quite a bit, which keeps her up at night, or wakes her up at night. Sunday I decided to keep her home from school Monday morning and take her to the dr. I let her sleep in, but woke Melissa at her usual time…. only to find out that she had a 101.6 F fever, and her throat and forehead hurt. Needless to say, she was going to the doctor, too! They tested Melissa for strep first, since the results would take a few minutes, then checked out Sara. She was fine… just a cold, and her runny nose was the problem, post nasal drip making her cough so much, and the dr. gave me some decongestant samples for her. Melissa’s strep test came back negative, and the dr. decided to test her for the flu, since there are already some cases popping up. And wouldn’t you know it, she has the flu!!! Dr. said she almost didn’t test her, but was glad that she did. Me, too! So Melissa is on tamiflu for five days, and she’s treating Sara preventatively for 10 days, so she hopefully won’t get it.  (Fingers crossed!).

** I’m not much of a drinker at all, and I certainly don’t drink this early in the morning! (Just thought I’d mention that 😉 ) And this brand of Mojitos isn’t that good either.

From This Day Forward

I called Cameron yesterday because I hadn’t talked to him in a while. When he picked up the phone he said

That’s so weird, I was just about to call you!

Me: Huh. See? Great minds think alike!

Cameron: I have some news! N and I got married today!

Me: WHAT??? What did you do THAT for???!!!!

Cameron : Because I love her!

Me: No! How could you get married without ME there to see you get married??!!

Cameron: Oh… well… we’re gonna have a real wedding later.

Me: Well you BETTER!!!

I can’t believe it… one of my kids is actually married. And I wasn’t there! But most importantly, I hope they made the right decision and didn’t rush into it. Cameron is only 19, and N 18 (and no, I have not met her yet). They’ve been engaged for about two years now, and when Cameron went off to college last December, N went with him and they’ve been living together for most of that time. They do seem happy, and he seems to be totally in love with her.

About five minutes after we hung up, Cameron called me back:

Mom, just wanted to let you know that no one else knows. We haven’t told anyone else, and no one even knows that we were planning to get married.

Me: Oh no! I just got off the phone with your grandma (my ex mother-in-law) and your brother!

Cameron: No, you didn’t! (I could tell he was smiling)

Me: Yes, I did!

Cameron: No way! No, you didn’t! (sounding slightly worried)

Me: Yes I DID!.. Sorry!

Cameron: NO! You didn’t! I don’t believe you! (Uh-oh, she better be kidding!)

Me: No, I didn’t. I’m just kidding.

Well… I may not have been there to see him get married, but it’s nice to be the first to find out (and now that I announced it on my blog, I’m hoping that none of those he didn’t tell, read my blog!)
