iPod Shuffle

Does anyone have one? Do you like it? Pros, cons?
I’m thinking of getting one for myself, because it’s just too darn boring when I have to go walking all by myself.
I like the price, too….. I don’t need any of the more expensive ones.

  1. Sounds like you have made a serious plan for the walking? Please tell more about your plans, you can make a blog-walking group for your readers,…I´ll join it. 🙂

  2. I haven’t used the shuffle, though we have a regular iPod and it gets pretty heavy use. It’s great for audio books as well as music.

If you raid the archives of Project Gutenberg, you can exercise your mind while you fine tune your physical self. (Providing you choose improving texts… 😉 )

  3. Birgitte, I really want (NEED!!) to loose some weight, and I can’t talk Greg into joining a gym with me, so that’s where the walking comes in.
What do you mean by blog-walking group?

  4. I’m not much help on this one since I have a Zune, but I’ve heard good things about IPOD.

  5. I have a shuffle, as does everyone else in my family. I chose it because I can’t see the nano’s screen and I am too cheap to get anything bigger. That said, I love it. But, there is no way to control what songs you will here and in what order. Not that it bothers me, though…

  6. I thought I read somewhere that you can play the songs in the order that you sync’d them?
But no, the order wouldn’t bother me either. I’m too cheap to get anything bigger, too, because then I’d rather spend that money on camera gear 😉

  7. we have a few shuffles…for the price it’s fine…and yes, it plays in the order they were uploaded. I bought Max something even cheaper at Best Buy and it works equally as good…I used to use Andrew’s nano if I walked outside and wanted music, now I am trying to figure out how to upload music to my new phone…

The thing I don’t like about the shuffle is it’s too tiny or more likely to get lost, lol! I think you can pick up an older nano………….i highly rec. staying with apple to be able to Itunes………….i told about our experience with an off market mp3 player, complete ripoff. Good for you to take up walking, I think about it all the time, lol!

  9. I have just made a test-walk, trying to get some ideas. The purpose of the blog-walking-group should be to help each other to keep the walking-spirit, and make it more fun to exercise. Maybe by reporting about the walks once a week, if ones goal have been fulfilled, and by telling a story of what one have seen, following the idea that “less is more”. It should be enough to tell :At my walk today I saw two pigeons fighting… 🙂 The Blog-walkers could also post tips about anything that consider how to get in good shape…does this give you any ideas?

  10. One of my German friends has such a blog. She has a little ticker widget to show how many days left toward her goal of walking a certain distance each day, and she posts on fitness and motivation. I think. When I read it through google translate, it does violence to the syntax.

    Would you like to see? Here is a link, just in case you can read German;

  11. Birgitte, my walks are pretty boring. It’s just a local park, and there’s almost never anyone else there.

Blue, I do read German! (English is my second language… German my first). Thanks for the link, I will check it out.

  12. I think most walks become boring after a short time. Even my husband and son, who enjoy jogging, complains sometimes. I was thinking that it could be a challenge to find something – just a tiny thing-to tell about.

The link looks interesting, thank you. I will try to make a counter.

  13. I will make a new blog page later today, for the walkers, and see how it goes. If no one wants to participate, I can always delete it later.

  14. I walk a min. of 5 times a week and have lost over 20 lbs. since I started at New Years. I usually walk on my treadmill though and watch something I dvr’d. However, when it’s nice out I do like to walk outside.

  15. oh and I forgot to say the mp3 player Max has truly works fine…he has it almost a year and no problems. I bought it for him last minute for the plane trip to CA last summer. I say, just upgrade your phone…so you can have a new phone and an mp3 player…lol…Greg works for verizon….

    21. April, 2009 at 08:17

  16. I don’t know about upgrading my phone…. I rarely use it anyway (mostly to call the boys) and I don’t need the extra gadgets on it. We don’t even have texting included in my plan.
I’ll probably stick with the iPod Shuffle. I like that I can clip it on and won’t need a pocket or anything.

  17. My husband uses his shuffle to walk to work and when he bikes. He really likes it although it’s so small he is always worried about losing it. You can play your songs in the order you put them in or in shuffle mode. So, you just have to reload if you get tired of your selection.

I have an mp3 player and I love it! It was not expensive at all and it doesn’t play the songs in order. I walked yesterday for the first time in months…it was great. Today I have a headache 😦

  19. Oh, Beyond Blue, you are hillarious!

I have a ticker on the right side of my blog which you can get for this blog, but it is just for me to remind myself to get out for at least 30 minutes a day, each day, regardless of weather. (But I have it streached for the year: 300 of 365 days is my goal 🙂 .)

I have five kids at home and so when I do have the opportunity to leave for a walk or bike ride alone, I quite enjoy the peace and quiet. I listen to the birds, keep my eyes peeled for the deer or wild boars…

Anyway, hope you come to enjoy many walks, with or without the shuffle!

    Greetings from Germany!

  20. Hallo Andrea! Is lieb, dass Du vorbeigeschaut hast 🙂

    21. April, 2009 at 12:31

  21. Wow, I have a great huge grin on my face! Such a lovely welcome…

And you understand German too? Talented lady 😀 !
