2010/043: Bonus

Hi. Today is snowing and I am
going to play outside and I love
snow very much, my sister loves
snow, too, and my mommy and my daddy,
too.

Of course this was yesterday. The snowiest day in North Texas history! Our school district was open, and on time, but I picked up the girls around 11:30am to give them at least half a snow day.
The school district announced yesterday afternoon that schools would open 2 hours late today and during the evening, watching TV, we watched one district after another cancel classes for today. Not ours! Then this morning, at 5:12 am came the moment we’ve hall been waiting (hoping) for…. all classes today were cancelled!!

The official snowfall total for DFW airport is 12.5 inches!! We got a little less, about 8.5 inches, but I’m still happy. The last time I remember any kind of real snow here was Valentine’s Day 2004, but all we got back then was about 2.5 inches.  We had more today than we saw in Indiana between Christmas and New Year, how crazy is that?! Needless to say, this was the first “real” snow for Sara. Melissa still remembers 2004.
Sadly, it will most likely be all gone by tomorrow, as our high is supposed to be 50F and we will be left with a muddy mess. It was fun while it lasted! 🙂

2010/043: Mug Series, Part 11

Wow, it’s been over a year since I posted a “mug shot”!
This one is perfect for today because it’s still cold outside, and, according to Tuesday’s (when I scheduled this post) weather report, it was actually supposed to snow yesterday and today! 1-3 inched predicted.

Sara gave me this mug for Christmas. It’s huge! I can fit a whole (4-cup) pot of coffee in there! I love the mug, it’s one of my favorites.
Please excuse the Christmas lights in the background… I thought they were fitting for this picture, even if it is February. I took the tree down in early January, a few days after we got back from vacation. Really!
