2010/068 Bonus: After The Storm

After raining almost all day yesterday, the sun finally peeked out again in the evening. I don’t know what it was, but something made me get up and look outside. When I saw a faint rainbow, I grabbed my camera, changed lenses as fast as I could, and ran outside to take some pictures. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a rainbow like this in person. The colors were so beautiful and rich, the picture doesn’t even come close to doing it justice. And then there’s those ugly power lines running straight to the picture!! But, there was no time to try to look for a better view, as the rainbow only lasted a few short minutes before it disappeared.

Adding one more that shows off the double rainbow better

  2. Fabulous! I even love the framing of the power lines on that first shot. Normally powerlines are such an eyesore, but they add to the “interestingness” of this shot! 🙂

I actually like the contrast of the common man-made power lines against the beautiful, rare, and natural rainbow.

  5. Oooooh, rainbows! In my book, they rank right up there on the ‘magical scale’ along with hummingbirds! And a double rainbow at that! I’m JEALOUS!!! 🙂

  9. Light, water and a sky to paint with. Nature sure knows how to knock our socks off. Beautiful!

Lucky you to have your camera near by. I photographed a rainbow like this last summer but only had my iPhone.

  11. Such clear colors! The power lines are making the composition stronger, I think. Did you notice that double rainbows have colors opposite each other?
