2011/007: Bonus – And Then It Was Gone

… safely stored away until next time, making the house look empty and bare, like something is missing.
I put the Christmas decorations away on Wednesday, took the tree down yesterday, and now everything is back to how it was before.
We had the Christmas tree in the dining room, because it’s the only place I can make it fit. When Sara saw that the tree was gone, she said “the dining room looks just… wrong!”
It will be Christmas again before we know it.

  1. I know the feeling. Took down our tree last weekend. It was picked up for recycling by the town. However, where the tree was, is where my chair goes most of the year so it looks “right”. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Putting all the decorations away is always a little sad, but on the other hand it’s nice to have everything back where it belongs ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I so KNOW the feeling! I went to put the old accessories back and realized, nope, these just won’t do. Soooo, out to the store to see what I could find. So far, the mantle looks great but the wall to the right of it needs ‘something’. No worries. I’ll find it! ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree sad, but also clean looking too. I finally got a good deal of mine down today. I actually did the outside last weekend when the weather was nice. Better than last year when I welcomed in March with decorations still adorning the outside.

  4. I’ve been putting things away for the last couple days. My 5 year old cried, but I feel relieved. It’s like starting fresh and uncluttered. Hope you had a happy New Year!

    • Aww, poor thing. I still have a few things out (snowman candle holders) and they will be hanging around all year, I have no intentions of putting them away ๐Ÿ˜‰

When our tree went out the kids said that the room looks so big! It’s a fresh new start.

  6. I think this must be the packing-it-away week or weekend. Our tree was taken down yesterday. Today I’m going to finish packing away the rest of Christmas. It does look strange for a while without it in the room, and I was a little said to see it go – we had a really nice, long lasting, few-needle-dropping tree this year!

  7. I still have to take down our Christmas decorations, I know how it feels though sometimes when I take everything down, I feel like it looks so bare and the Christmas things just give the home more warmth.
