2011/030: The One That Got Away

… and the reason why I’m going to make more of an effort to have my camera with me more often.
This gorgeous sunset happened just a few days before the one I did capture, and posted pictures of in the last few days.  The only camera I had, was my cell phone, and that alone was lucky, because a lot of times I leave it at home. I quickly turned the camera on and was able to take a few pictures, but they come nowhere close to doing it justice. I sent them to my e-mail address, but they looked even worse on the computer than on the phone screen.

I have the same phone! Just yesterday morning, as we drove by a lake, geese were in some water that wasn’t frozen, the early morning light was hitting them perfect and there was fog rising up….I said to buddy that I really need to start carrying around my camera, even my old one. I can’t stop thinking about it, lol and talked about the shot that got away all day long. So, I feel your pain, literally 😉

    Great shot!

    • I love my little phone 😉 I think I knew that you had the same one…. I vaguely remember seeing it in one of the pics you posted on your blog a while back.

I’m still kicking myself for not having the camera that day. That sunset was really something!

  3. I know what you mean! Until I start carrying the camera more, I was thinking of trying some shots with my iPod. I know it would never be as nice as with a real camera, of course, but maybe I’d like them more than my cell phone shots. I was backing out of the driveway to go to work one day last week and saw the most spectacular setting moon I’ve ever seen in my life. I whined to myself all the way to work about not getting that picture! (I should have called in “late” !)

    • I agree, you should have gone back in to get the camera, and just blamed traffic for being late 😉

  4. Sometimes those cell phone photos have a personality that is pleasing. Why don’t you post the pic so we can see?!! Chase Jarvis says the best camera is the one that is with you… at least you had one with you!! 😉

I had a similar moment last fall when a double rainbow appeared and all I had was my crappy cell phone. I do bring my camera with me often but didn’t have it this time. I’m thinking about getting an iPhone when it comes out on Verizon in February.

    • Ohhhh, ther reminds me of the rainbow we saw one day years and years ago, after I picked Greg up from work and we were almost home. It was a COMPLETE rainbow, just perfect and beautiful, and bright. Back then all I had was a pont&shoot, and didn’t even have a cell phone with camera (they probbaly didn’t exist back then).

  7. Can you get apps for your phone? The photos from my iPhone are not great but there are many apps available to tweak them. I use BestCamera currently.

  9. I am terribly obsessed and have my camera with me at practically all times. I’ve had to take the occasional day or two vacation from it just to become a normal human again. lol!

I hear you. I used to take my camera everywhere and not as much anymore. This is pretty. At least you have a gorgeous wallpaper for your phone.
