2011/055: Week-end Getaway

The kids were off for President’s Day last Monday, Greg took the day off from work, and we escaped for the long week-end.

Lucky you! That must have been a nice change of pace. We were supposed to go away this weekend but have two sick kids (you have recent experience with that, no?) and since we were going to stay with my parents and I didn’t want to be getting them sick we had to change our plans.

    • I’m so sorry you had to change your plans 😦 We didn’t know until almost the last minute whether or not we could go, with Sara sick the week before, and Melissa not feeling well a couple of days before we left.

    • LOL Didn’t I tell you that I would do a “where was I?” post? πŸ˜‰
Yes, a city… but which one??? Here’s a hint: it’s about 4 hours from Dallas. (Should be easy to figure out now)

  3. I’m guessing Austin!

  4. This seems to be the time of year for sick kids! Mine have been fighting colds all week.
    Is it Houston?

  5. The skyline looks familiar. San Antonio?

  6. You and I have very different ideas of ‘escape’, Michaela! If it were moi, I would have left the kids at home and hopped a flight to an island! πŸ™‚

  7. Hope you had a lovely get-away, Michaela. It looks like it was. Since we live in the woods, I love going to the city for get-aways. Hope you returned home rejuvenated.

Hmmmm. I would have guessed Austin too. How fun to just get out of town for a couple days. I hope it was a good time to relax.

  9. Sorry I missed your birthday, but I was busy celebrating in Mexico. I’m sure I had a margarita for you. Hope you had a good one!

  10. We went to HOUSTON!
Well… actually we stayed in Webster, which is just south of Houston, and spent some time in Kemah, but a good part of Sunday was spent in Houston. More pictures to follow πŸ™‚

Karen, hope your girls feel better soon! We’re over the colds and into allergy season. Yuck!

Tracy, that WOULD be a nice getaway, except that we have no one to leave the kids with.

Kathy, it’s ALWAYS nice to get away from home for a few days. Wish we would have had at least one more, so we could have gone to Galveston for a walk on the beach. But, there’s always next time.

Amy, I think even the kids had a good time πŸ™‚

    Deanna, thank you! πŸ™‚

    • Ding, ding, ding! I was right! πŸ™‚
How much further away would Galveston had been? It’s always worthwhile to squeeze in a walk on the beach in my opinion.

      24. February, 2011 at 18:28

      • I think to Galveston it would have been about 45 minutes or so. We’ve gone before, when we went to Kemah, but this time we had so many other things planned that there just wasn’t time. But yeah, I’m always up for a walk on the beach, too. Still glad we got to see Houston instead this time. I’ll have plenty more pictures coming up, starting tomorrow πŸ™‚

  12. Sounds like a nice weekend. I like the texture you added to the first image, it is subtle and works well with the shot. And I love the lines of the second one, nice and clean and simple.. hard to do with cities πŸ˜‰

Yes it was a weird pepper for sure, which is why I had to photograph it. DIdn’t see any nearly as cool at the store tonight.
