2011/110: Tattered
Found this poor little thing on one of the blackberry flowers. Probably a victim of those insanely high winds early last week (30-35 mph sustained, with 50-55 mph gusts)

Wow, those wings are shredded. Could it still fly?

I don’t know… I didn’t see it fly. It was on that flower the whole time.

Oh my! It is pretty beaten up looking. You have some stunning focus on the eye – that’s awesome on a bug.

poor baby 😉 I guess those battered wings helped him hang around a bit longer for you to take pics, lol.

Makes its wing look like a little fairy and I like the striped antennae.

I wonder where he came from? He may have traveled miles in those winds and still survived. I like the last one, too. Looks like an ET.

I’ve had days like that myself, bounced around inside a tornado, spit out on a strange flower in foreign parts, and set upon by a monster with a single enormous eye. Yup. I can relate. But the moth seems to have held up a bit better. Tough little beauty. Nice portrait.

Well they’re certainly not particularly well designed for that kind of onslaught… Makes you wonder how he’s still around at all eh, but he does look pretty sorry for himself despite your wonderful shots.. 🙂

Maybe it was the winds, maybe he had a run in with a bird: either way… What a trooper!
Great shots 🙂
