2011/282: Cracked

Hole in the ground, cause by the drought. This is at Sara’s school, right next to the playground! I hope the teachers do a good job supervising the kids, and keeping them away from the gates of hell cracks in the ground so no one gets hurt. If Sara stood in it, it would be about knee-deep, and if it gets any worse, the city could turn the elementary school into a  visitor center and charge admission to see the Texas Grand Canyon! 😉

Here we are water-logged which is one of the theories behind our lack of color in the trees. Today it’s supposed to be in the mid-80’s, back to wearing shorts. Woohoo!

    • Thank you! That camera is almost as big as she is 😉
How sad that you don’t have a pretty fall this year.

  3. Oh wow…I hope the kids stay safe. Your daughter is so pretty. And she looks like such a budding photographer! (Why did I say budding? She’s probably as good a photographer as any of us!)

  4. That crack in the ground looks dangerous – for twisted ankles and such. They should get at least some caution tape around it! Sara looks cute in that outfit – I know you are sick of summer, but summery clothes are so much better than sweaters and scarves and hats!

    • Broken legs are probably more like it! I think they should fill them all in…. this isn’t the only one, there are lots of them, but this might be the biggest one.

oh wow, I’ve never seen anything like it, that’s just crazy! What’s the temps now?

    • RIGHT now it’s “only” 66 degrees. The highs are still in the mid to upper 80’s, which is fine with me. Sure as heck beats those triple digits!

  8. WOW..pretty amazing! And – your daughter with the camera around her neck – is just too sweet standing there like that.

  9. That is some drought you are experiencing to produce cracks of these proportions. Here it raineth every day!

  10. I didn’t realize the ground would do that in a drought. I’ve seen cracks in the ground due to drought, but never a hole like that. We get sinkholes from the rain.

Gates of hell… you crack me up. 🙂

  12. After that drought, it will take a long time for the land to recover! The good news though is that it will!
