2011/319: Sunrise And Fog

This was on our last day of our recent Oklahoma getaway. We left the hotel (not so) bright and (very) early, because we had a long drive ahead of us, with lots of back roads, and still one last scheduled stop on our list.
I made Greg pull over so I could get out of the car for these shots. Something I usually don’t ask him to do.

gorgeous! I don’t usually ask George to pull ove either but he’s really good about asking, searching for a good vantage, etc. That’s a field w/ fog? It almost looks like the ocean….I’m no geography expert but I do know there’s no ocean where you were, lol.

  2. Beautiful! Definitely worth a pullover. 🙂

  3. They are so very beautiful! You don’t normally ask him to pull over? Why not? As a photographer it should be understood and we should all have bumper stickers that say, “Warning: photographer on board, makes frequent stops”.

  4. These are gorgeous shots. No wonder you asked him to stop. I would have too. 🙂

  5. WOW! That was a good call to stop the car for these shots – they’re gorgeous!! I love the bumper sticker idea! 😉

  6. I also rarely ask to pull over. Sometimes I feel like photography is a single-person sport – I am much more likely to take the time (setting up the tripod, walking around to find the best vantage) when I am alone. When I’m with someone I often feel like I’m holding them up.

  7. Very pretty series and definitely worth the stop. My problem is, if I stop, I usually sit down and might be there for an hour (or more)! If more people would “stop” we might not have such rage in our society!

  8. Thanks everyone!

Doreen, it looked like a lake or ocean to me, too, that morning. It was sooo pretty! Definitely worth being on the road this early.

Becky, most of the time there just isn’t anything worth stopping for. We do stop at “overlooks” sometimes… and I usually slow everyone down when we’re walking somewhere 😉
    LOVE the bumper sticker idea!!

In this case, we just stopped at the side of the road. Not a good place to spend much time, but thankfully there wasn’t a lot of traffic.

  9. I like these, especially the second one. It’s just about perfect!

  10. The colour is great in the first one, but it’s the peaceful feel in the other two that draws me in. Particularly the middle with just the suggestion of the sun – very just-take-one-more-look-ish.

  11. Dreamy fog and warm colors. Glad you stopped!

  13. You captured that rolling fog beautifully. You remind me of a picture I always wanted to stop and get of a lovely creek with fog, that I often saw on my drive to work. Since the tornado, the spot just doesn’t look so lovely anymore, so I probably never will get that shot because I never pulled over to do it.
