2012/248: Miners Castle Overlook

While looking through one of the travel brochures for more things to do in the Munising, Michigan area, I came across Miners Castle Overlook. There weren’t any real details about what exactly Miners Castle is, but how wrong can you go with an overlook on Lake Superior, right? So off we drove to check it out…. and WOW! So glad we didn’t miss this!
Turns out that Miners Castle is the sandstone formation you see in the distance (once you can tear your eyes away from the gorgeous color of the water πŸ˜‰ )

After enjoying the beautiful view for a while, we walked down the path that lead down to Miners Castle to get this beautiful view of part of Pictures Rocks National Lakeshore.

  2. Gorgeous color and scenery. Did you go for a swim? Did the kids want to?

    • Thank you!
We didn’t go all the way down to the water. Sara probably would have wanted to go for a swim…Mel didn’t seem interested in swimming at all (not even the hotel pool!)

    • Thanks Marg. We only got our feet (and legs) wet, but the water temp wasn’t too bad. But I’ve been told that Lake Superior was unusually warm this year.

    • It was even better in person, that picture doesn’t even do it justice.
There’s no huge hurry with that request, haven’t even chosen the other pictures yet, and I’m still waiting for a memory card full of pictures from my friend in Germany. AND, there’s this other friend (not Dalia!) who’s being a royal PITA about that request πŸ˜‰
Thanks, Doreen…hope the rain stops, soon!!
