2012/284: Quincy Smelting Works

During our Michigan vacation this past July, we spent a few days in Houghton, and saw some interesting buildings across the water. These turned out to be the Quincy Smelting Works…closed permanently in 1971 and now abandoned.

A couple of days later, we had to drive right past it on our way to somewhere else, and of course I talked Greg into stopping so I could take a closer look….and more pictures! 😉

    • Thanks, Doreen. I was glad we were able to stop and at least peek through the fence. Would have been cool to get inside though, but picking three locks in broad daylight would have taken too long, and I forgot my bolt cutters… (Kidding!!! I would never try to break in!)

haha, I’m suprised there wasn’t a hole cut in the fence somewhere. Back when we were young and stupid, we use to hang (party)out in a closed down psychiatric hospital aka insane asylum. Before I was really into photography…oh the memories, lol.
