2014/114: Eleven

Can’t believe my youngest is turning 11 years old today! Where has the time gone??
Happy Birthday, sweet Sara ♥♥♥

2014-114

2014/049: Celebrate

Only four people missing from this celebration today:
My sister-in-law Daneen, who I will definitely be thinking of tonight when I drink her favorite wine and not be able to share with her…
My friend Heike, who lives all the way in Germany, and it’s been much too long (almost 15 years!) since I’ve seen her…
My wonderful and talented friend Dalia, who may still be snowed in in New Jersey and is no doubt ready for some of the spring weather we’re having…
And last but not least, my favorite Brit, Jason Statham Brian, cos someone has to keep pouring the wine (and provide the entertainment) 😉

2012/236: Sweet Sixteen

Happy Birthday to Melissa! ♥
(Even if she’s not happy about the camera in her face 😉 )

2012/115: Bonus – Interview With A 9-Year-Old

Thought I’d change it up a bit and do a video interview…. took a little bit of bribing to talk her into it 😉
If you’re wondering about the “British” accent, there are several possible explanations (some are more possible than others)
1) A Harry Potter marathon during Christmas vacation.
2) She’s part British (don’t know how that could have happened!!).
3) She was British in a former life.

2012/115: Nine

Happy Birthday Sara JayeJaye ♥

2012/091: Twenty-Three

Can’t believe my first baby is 23 years old today!
Happy Birthday, Cameron!

2012/049: Bonus – Birthday Wish

Of course I’m not telling!

2012/049: 22

That’s right! Since my “selective dyslexia” won’t work for a few years, I’ll just cut my age in half! 😉
They do say, that you’re only as old as you feel, and I don’t feel a day over 22!

2011/235: Fifteen

Hard to believe she’s 15 already…. and lucky me, to have been able to snap a picture before she had time to hide behind her book!
Sadly, the new school year started yesterday, but she will get a big surprise after school! 🙂

Happy Birthday, Mellie! ♥

2011/192: Birthday

Happy 20th Birthday to my son, Nick!
Unfortunately our vacation timing was a little off and we weren’t able to spend his birthday with him, but celebrating a little early is just as good 🙂

2011/117: Officially Eight

But she still looks like seven. Whew! 😉
(Taken on her Birthday on Sunday)

2011/114: Bonus – Eight

I can’t believe my baby is eight today! I don’t know where the time went… seems like just yesterday she turned one!
She’s been talking about an American Girl doll since before Christmas, and I promised her that if she was really good, maybe she would get one for her birthday. They’re not exactly cheap, and I wanted to wait and see if she forgot all about it by her birthday. No such luck! 😉
I did tell her that IF she got one of the dolls, it would be the ONLY birthday present she would get from us, and she was OK with that (we did surprise her with the “Tangled” DVD, and Melissa picked out a Rapunzel doll for her). And sweetheart that she is, she offered to pick out one of the baby dolls because they were cheaper. I told her that IF she got to pick one, she could pick the one she liked best, and not to worry about how much it costs.
Yesterday we went to the Galleria Mall in Dallas and she got to pick out her doll. She had no idea why we were going there until she saw the American Girl store. She had so much fun browsing through the store, and finally decided on Kanani, and spent some of her Birthday money on a cute little pink dress. They even had the dress in Sara’s size, and she would have loved to get it, but at $58 that was just NOT going to happen!

What to get, what to get…

Found her!

Posing with Kanani

Happy shopper 🙂

On the way home, doll freed from her box, and safely buckled up

♥ Happy Birthday, little one! ♥

2011/049: 34

Well shoot. I guess this is the last year (for a while anyway) that my selective dyslexia will work. Which means that, starting next year, I will be counting backwards instead! 😉
After a crazy week (Sara testing positive for influenza A, influenza B, and strep), and Melissa waking up yesterday and not feeling well (tested negative for flu and strep) and staying home, both girls are back in school. Greg took today off work, and we’re going to see what kind of trouble we can get into.

These earrings were my Birthday present from Greg…. and he gave them to me a couple of weeks early!!
They were made by Rebecca and I fell in love with them the first time I saw them. Check out her other beautiful jewelry on Etsy.
I just love the way she photographs her creations, and I did the same with these earrings, but chose something different to post here. And, after getting a haircut yesterday, I did shorten them bu one link, because they were too long (or my hair is now too short).

2010/235: Fourteen Candles

Today is a big day…. it’s Melissa’s 14th Birthday, and her first day in highschool!
Happy Birthday, Mellie!

We celebrated yesterday, since she wouldn’t really be able to enjoy it today. She picked out her own cake (Red Velvet… store bought, since it’s waay too hot to turn on the oven – yesterday it was 109 F!!) and she got lots of cash,  and an iTunes gift card. We are also getting her a new phone in the near future (with a keyboard, so we can hopefully decipher her text messages 😉 ) and we will be adding her to my wireless plan. Right now she has a TracFone and needs to use up her minutes before she can get the new phone.
I thought I would have some fun with her, and took a picture of my phone’s keyboard, and put the print into her birthday card. The look on her face when she pulled the picture out was priceless! She had no idea what it meant, and at first thought that she was getting a laptop. I think she’s excited about the new phone.
She already used some of her cash to buy Super Mario Kart for the Wii.

Not sure what she was thinking here… maybe wondering why all she was getting was a card, and no wrapped presents?

2010/192: Nineteen

Happy Birthday to my son, Nick! (Sorry Nick, had to post this pic!)
He joined the Army National Guard earlier this year and left for basic training in mid April. This picture was taken the day before he graduated basic, and I much prefer it to the picture he sent me a few minutes before this. I had asked him to send me a picture, and he sent me one of him with about 9 or 10 Hooters girls! BOYS!!!

(Photo credit belongs to whoever held the phone)

2010/144: Birthday Celebration

I’m only a month late with these. Had them all edited, and then never picked out any for the blog… oops! But here they are 🙂
For Sara’s Birthday, we went to Amazing Jake’s, just the four of us, and had a great time! Sara was dying to try the rock climbing wall! So was Melissa, but Sara could.not.wait!  She did really great!! She tried the easiest side first, and made it all the way to the top to ring the bell… she practically flew up! Melissa tried the second easiest, and didn’t quite make it.

Of course climbing up once wasn’t enough and they had to try again. I talked Sara into trying the second easiest side and she almost made it to the top before she slipped off (she made it further than Melissa! Melissa tried the easiest and made it to the top). Yup, always knew Sara was a little monkey! I think this is as far as she got, before she slipped and fell off.

They went on the bumper cars several times, too, and had a blast!

And of course the go-karts!! Unfortunately Sara is still too young to drive one herself, but she didn’t mind being Melissa’s passenger.

2010/114: Seven

The goof turns 7 today. Where did the time go??!! Seems like just yesterday when we brought her home from the hospital.

Happy Birthday, my Little Bug ♥

2010/049: 24

Please forgive the selective dyslexia 😉

Tonight is the night we finally get to drink this! Ice wine from Germany!
(We bought it before Christmas and planned on drinking it Christmas Eve, but then forgot all about it)

And what am I going to drink it out of? Well, this glass of course! Thanks Daneen, Brian and David for this cool birthday present! I might have to start collecting these! 😉

It even has a recipe on the bottom

2009/365

The end of another year…. hope it’s been a good one for all of you.

Today is also Greg’s Birthday… 45!! Happy Birthday, Honey!

2009/235: 13

Oh-oh… another teenager! Happy 13th Birthday, Melissa!

2009/192: Sunflower

And a Happy 18th Birthday to Nick!

2009-192

2009/114: Six

Happy Birthday Little One ♥

Plans for today…. drop off cupcakes at school to share with her class. Then she’ll probably want to open presents as soon as Melissa is home from school, and daddy is home from work. She keeps changing her mind about where she wants to go for dinner, either CiCi’s, TwoRows Classic Grill, or Chuck E. Cheese. Strangely all three places have pizza on the menu! I have a feeling we’ll end up at Chuck E. Cheese, though.
Tomorrow is her birthday party. She’s celebrating with her soccer team and Elle (Amber’s daughter) at the rollerskating place we went to last year as well.

2009-114-a

I say Daddy better start sharpening his knives for when those boys come knocking on the door!!

2009-114-b

(Yes, she’s a goof, wearing three head bands at the same time, but these are really cool because they change color in the sun. Indoors they’re white)

Stay tuned for a bonus post later today!

2009/90: Birthday

Happy Birthday to my oldest! Cameron is 20 years old today!

2009-090

2009/50: First One

Last week, when I was out with Amber, taking pictures, we stopped at this quilting store here in town because I needed a camera strap cover for my D300. It seemed only fitting that I should take the first pictures with the new camera of the fabric I found. I loved the colors, and what could be more perfect than flowers, right? And, it’s girlie! Greg won’t come near the camera if it has a girlie camera strap cover on it. He has a business trip to NYC coming up in March and had the nerve to ask me if he could take the D300 with him to take pictures!! Um, NO! I offered him the D70s, but I need all my lenses and he would have to stop at B&H to get a lens ( 😉 ). He didn’t seem to like this idea very much, even though I told him I could give him a list to choose from.
Anyway… here’s my find! And not to worry, I bought myself some tulips for my Birthday yesterday, so stay tuned for pictures of them.

We also went out to dinner with friends yesterday, to one of my favorite restaurants.  Thanks Amber & family for spending part of my day with me, we really had a great time.
