I love chocolate. The only thing better than chocolate is chili chocolate! I’ve tried several brands, and some are better than others, and I’ve discovered that the cheaper brands are often better than the more expensive ones. I’ve tried a $7 bar of chili chocolate once, and even though it tasted very nice, the chocolate wasn’t very smooth and I won’t ever buy it again, even if I win the lottery 😉
These are the most recent brands I tasted (some more than once!) and the Sprouts ($1.99) store brand is by far my favorite. It definitely has a nice kick to it, but it’s not too spicy at all.
Next is the Lindt (around $2.49) brand, which got me hooked on chili chocolate after a friend mentioned to me that it tasted really nice. Who am I to say no to chocolate, so off I went to search for it…..and found it! You can taste the chili, but it doesn’t have the same kick as the Sprouts brand.
Then same friend as above virtually waved a Moser Roth brand bar of chili chocolate in my face, and that’s just cruel (don’t you agree? You just don’t do that to a chocoholic!!). I discovered that Aldi sells this brand ($1.99) and off I went to get a bar. Although it’s very nice chocolate, I couldn’t really taste the chili in it. It just tasted like dark chocolate.
The kids refuse to even try the chili chocolate, which is fine, because there will be more for ME! 🙂
Not sure if these were just a limited edition for Easter, or if they’re still available… didn’t think they were all that good, personally, but then I much prefer milk chocolate to white chocolate anyway. But, if there’s no other chocolate in the house, I’ll certainly eat them! 😉
The kids talked me into trying these, although most of them got to travel overseas to my best friend.
We did keep a few to try, and they were really good, with little bits of candy canes.
They are so light and airy, they float right out of the wrapper! 😉
These taste just like the regular milk chocolate Hershey Kisses, but with a lighter texture (less chocolate for the same price?)
By the way, there was no “photoshopping” involved, other than the basic picture editing stuff, like sharpen, brighten, contrast adjustment, etc.
Anyone who can figure out how I did this, wins the Smartypants Award (aka bragging rights). If no one figures it out, I may or may not give away my secret.
These are GOOD!! (Much better than those Hershey Kisses I posted yesterday!) Made with real rum, not just rum flavoring like they would use here in the US for rum balls that you could buy at a grocery store.
They were one of my birthday presents from my best friend…. and didn’t last long 😉 I’m so lucky that my birthday isn’t in the summer, when anything chocolate sent through the mail would be a melted mess!
The green ones are my favorites! 😉
OK, Hershey needs to stop coming out with new flavors of Kisses, because I’m running out of ideas to photograph them!
I had to sacrifice several of them before I had one that was cut perfectly.
The Irish Cream Kisses aren’t my favorites, but they are pretty good. They do lack a certain something (aka real Irish Cream), and if they had been made in Germany… or probably several other European countries… they would contain alcohol. Brandy Beans anyone?
… or actually chocolate-to-be!
… and don’t forget to eat chocolate! 😉
Dark chocolate with a minty center. De-Li-Cious!!
Please note all the Kisses that had to be sacrificed for the sake of the shot. May they rest in peace (on my hips) Thankfully I had some help, eating them.
… are delicious!
That’s right! It’s all Scott‘s fault. He had to mention the white Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in his comment to my original post today.
It’s one of those I need chocolate kind of days (but then again, that’s pretty much every day!) and I couldn’t get those white Reeses out of my head and had to go look for them. Couldn’t find the candy bar sized ones and had to but a whole bag of the miniature ones…. which is NOT good when you’re already skipping the gym (which I will blame on the laundry, and on Greg for leaving some paperwork at home, and asking me to bring to him at work).
BUT, most of the bag went straight into the kids’ candy bowl with all their Halloween chocolate, and most of what was left in the bag, I hid… hoping I will forget where I put it…. yeah… I’m not that forgetful. Yet.
Anyway… the white Reese’s Peanutbutter Cups are good, but not as good as the milk chocolate ones. I can eat them (I’m not THAT picky!), but I prefer the white chocolate KitKats.
Couldn’t go all the way to Indiana without making a trip (or two) to Albanese Candy Factory!! One of the many delicious things we bought, were these giant peanut butter cups. They’re so big, they could almost be a whole meal (well, calorie-wise anyway 😉 )
When we were at the store, we sampled a few things, and Melissa was all sad because she really liked the gummy bears last summer, and she can’t have them since she got her braces. One of the sales people overheard us and said that their gummies are the only ones known not to stick to braces! I let Melissa have a sample, and sure enough, they didn’t stick! Of course we bought them a bag full and the kids were happy little campers. Sadly, though, they didn’t have the Figaros (small chocolate squares with a hazelnutty taste), that we bought last summer.
Looks like Hershey’s came out with a couple of new fall flavors of Kisses (or maybe they’re not new, but this was the first time I’ve seen them).
One of them is Caramel Apple, and very good! I only bought a small bag, and I’m proud to say that it lasted almost a week.
We decided to go to Hershey, Pennsylvania since it wasn’t too far out of the way, and that’s where we were on Sunday, July 5, 2009.
There wasn’t enough time to go to the amusement park, and we only went to Chocolate World. We took the tour through the “factory” first, and then the girls got to package up their own Hershey Kisses at Hershey’s Factory Works. Of course we browsed through the shops, too, and bought some chocolate!
From there we went on to Baltimore, Maryland where we ate lunch (Greg was dying to eat crabs!! YUCK!) and then visited Greg’s brother for a while. Unfortunately our sister-in-law and nephew were in Maine on vacation and we didn’t get to see them.
Our next stop was Frederick, Maryland. If I could live anywhere in the world, this would be the place! I actually lived there for a little over a year and still miss it.
We stopped at Carroll Creek Park, which was still under construction when we moved to Texas. It’s a really nice park with lots of restaurants and shops, a “river walk” and beautiful bridges and artwork. All the artwork you see here is painted onto the bridge and the walls, even the stones and ivy were painted.
Chocolate Meltaway Center and Peanut Butter Hershey’s Kisses. These were a little “souvenir” from our vacation (both delicious!), along with a bag of Yorks and a bag of Dark Chocolate Hershey’s Peanut Butter Cups.
I’m sure you can all guess where we went! 😉
Got these for Easter from my honey. Too bad they’re non-alcoholic ! They were still good… just not as good as they could have been!
(Now if this was Germany, they would have been filled with the real stuff!!)
Hershey needs to stop coming out with all these delicious flavors… I’m running out of ideas of how to photograph them.
Another yummy flavor (but the hot cocoa kisses are better).
