2012/052: Just Ducky
On January 24/25, 2012 we got 6 inches of rain within 24 hours, which pretty much turned our backyard into a small pond, and the little ducky got to take a little swim 😉
2011/339: Bonus – Rain, Rain…
… go away!
It’s been raining since Friday, and we’ve gotten just under 4 inches so far, and it’s still raining (snowing not too far west of us!!!). Seems like Mother Nature is trying to make up for the recent drought in one week-end!

2010/251: Bonus – Hermine
Yes, this storm we are in the middle of right now has a name, and is leaving north Texas (and other areas as well) a complete mess! All I can say is Tropical Storm Hermine needs to move on asap! We’ve gotten 5 inches of rain so far (since yesterday morning) and it’s not over yet!
We had some rain late last week and our roof sprung a leak… there was water running down from the ceiling in Melissa’s room! Greg called the roofer, who was able to come out the next morning and take a look. He told us that we would need different types of shingles for the flat roof above Melissa’s room, and he was going to e-mail us a quote.
It was sunny after that, but sometime yesterday morning it started raining again, and by about 4:30pm, we had water dripping from the ceiling again. Greg called the roofer back, who was able to come out during a break in the rain and patch up the roof. It didn’t stop the leak, but it slowed it down. Still, I’ve been waiting ever since for the ceiling to come crashing down. So far, so good (knock on wood!).
So now we need a good three DRY days, and then another day and a half for the roofer to do the work. Anyone want to trade some sunshine for a steady downpour? I’ll be happy to trade!
2010/042: Rainy Day In The Carpool Lane
One of many reasons I don’t like rain… I have to pick Sara up in the carpool lane, which means I have to get in line at least 30 minutes before school lets out or there are so many cars there, the end of the line is somewhere way down the street. It’s boring, waiting there, and sometimes I bother my friends and family with texts, but this time I decided to bring the camera and take pictures to kill the time.

2009/295: Dallas
Back home after our little Houston area getaway. Dallas was just as foggy as Houston that day, and it rained, too.
2009/131: Bonus – Rain, Rain, Go Away!
Enough already!!!!
We lucked out over the week-end and it was mostly damp. Got another soccer game out of the way, but it was drizzly and I decided to keep the camera in the car. It was killing me, not being able to take pictures!!! But, I figured, if I went and got it, it would start pouring.
Yesterday was drizzly a good part of the day, too, and today the rain is back. I’m ready for those clouds to make some room for the sun!
This was taken at the park where I usually walk… the fields are slowly turning into lakes.
2009/85: After The Rain
We got more rain yesterday afternoon, but right around sunset the sun came out again. It looked so pretty, I had to go outside and take some pictures.
2009/72: Rain, Rain, Go Away
It’s been raining since Tuesday…. enough already!!! I think we’ve gotten about 5″ so far.
swimming anyone?
Ike
Ike came and went – I think! It’s still too dark outside to see. It didn’t get too bad here. We got some good rain, but it wasn’t as windy as I thought it would be (or as windy as the meteorologists said it would be). It was still a category 1 hurricane when it came through here, but we were on the western edge of it.
6.5 Inches
That’s how much rain we got in less than 24 hours!!! The fist 5 inches fell in about eight hours and the last inch and a half we got yesterday evening and over night. Our yard pretty much turned into a small lake, and I think if we had gotten another half inch or so, we would have had a new address because we would have floated down the street!
Greg and I got to go outside in that downpour because we discovered two leaky windows.. the one here in the computer room and the one in Melissa’s room. We were only outside for about five minutes or so, trying to cover the windows with plastic. And not only did we get drenched, but it didn’t help at all and the windows were still leaking. We were able to catch the drips from Melissa’s window in a cup, but we had to use towels in the computer room because the water was running down the window pane. Thankfully we got a break in the rain for a few hours in the evening, and during the night it wasn’t as heavy anymore, and we didn’t have to get up to change the towels.
Of course I took some pictures….
Our rain gauge. First picture was taken yesterday afternoon just before I emptied it out, and the second one this morning.
From yesterday afternoon… our flooding yard.
Redbud in the rain.
And one from this morning. I don’t have rubber boots, so I dug out my beach flip-flops and went to stand in the lake. OMG that water was sooo C-O-L-D!!!!!!! You can see how deep it is.
Blue skies and sunny today.
More Rain
Two rounds of thunderstorms yesterday. Sunny and blue skies (but a chilly 35 degrees!) so far today.
Hoping this year won’t be a repeat of a very wet 2007.
