2010/206: It Takes A Lickin’

… and keeps on… wait… wrong brand!
In June, Greg briefly took over laundry duties and that’s when Melissa’s iPod somehow made a trip through the washer and dryer.. ear buds and all! I found it in a tangled mess when I took the clothes out of the dryer to fold them. I turned on the iPod but the light didn’t come on. Plugged it into the computer to charge it, and at first the charge light didn’t come on, but changed its mind after a while. It charged fully and still works! Even the ear buds are still OK!

(I’m NOT blaming anyone, even though Greg thinks I am 😛 )

  1. Well I guess with the “no blame” message here it’s lucky you’ve not mentioned anyones name (apart from Greg), or they might misconstrue your meaning… lol… Hopefully he didn’t put it in with the whites though… 😉

    • Ha! He put a red sweater in with the light colored clothes LAST time he had to take over laundry duties (and was not allowed to do laundry for several years after that). Now we have a hamper that allows us to pre-sort everything.
Greg saw me schedule this post and immediately accused me of blaming him, which was not my intention at all. Everyone needs to check their own pockets (unless they leave money in them 😉 ) before they put their clothes in the hamper.

      • Haha… You banned him from laundry duties for years.. Are you sure the addition of the red sweater was accidental !?!?!… LOL…

        • LOL Yes, it was an accident (and he only damaged one of his own shirts with the red sweater), since I do 99% of the laundry.
Now if he had to do it on a regular basis, THEN it probably would have been on purpose. But he really didn’t mind helping out.

well, I’m going to defend Greg and say this washing was Mel’s fault 😉 but then again, I’m the one who does the laundry and when things get ruined it’s never my fault 😉

That’s amazing it still works, she’s one lucky girl! Daniel put his phone in a puddle of water on the kitchen counter, it was soaked! But a bowl of rice and 3 days later, it’s as good as new!

    • Hey, I’m not blaming Greg! I agree with you that ultimately it was Melissa’s fault, because she should have taken it out of her pocket.
      Glad Daniel’s phone survived!

  5. Marvelous…hope your daughter is a bit more careful in the future. Once might be just enough for those stylish pink earbuds. 🙂

    • So far so good! Haven’t found it in the washer or dryer since!
Those earbuds would have been easy to replace, they’re pretty cheap.

  6. I can’t tell you how many cellphones and ipods we have washed and dried. You’d think we would get a clue already. A lot of times they do last a little longer. It’s amazing. Of course, my huband who does the laundry says that it’s the kid’s job to clean out pockets and I say it’s his job to check first since we’re the ones paying for them. But then again I might have a different opinion if it was me doing the laundry all the time. 🙂
